Beyond Space Travel: An unseen territory of Transportation

From Land to sea to air (including space), transportation has evolved dramatically. The evolution has reached to a point where people believe that they are comfortable with present condition and nothing more to be developed in transportation. But is it really the case?

But before answering that question, let me quickly take you through the history of transportation and how and why it was developed. Since the start of human kind, they were able to move from place to place on foot. Thereafter, in order to travel faraway and move heavy objects, they used tamed animals such as donkeys, camels and horses. Then with the advancement of science, mechanised transportation was born. Starting with the cycles, cars, trains were the wonders done by the name of science. Our ancestors didn’t satisfy with well-developed land transportation systems. They went on to build ships and airplanes to fulfil their urges to travel by sea and by air. Lately, in a curiosity to explore our universe, human invented rockets, which is the present most developed mode of transportation. Eventually, it has been considered that, space travel is the ultimate end of evolution of transportation.

Yes, not only now we can travel anywhere in our planet, but also anywhere in our universe (given that, enough fuel and other resources are available). It is a good milestone to celebrate, but it is not the ultimate point of transportation.

In my opinion, we have missed out an important transportation requirement through-out the history. That is to move from one universe to another. I believe moving through universes also belong in transportation as it falls under the basic definition of transportation, “moving from one place to another”. However, not a lot of research have been done under this topic. Therefore, unfortunately we are in the starting point of the developing inter-verse travel, while we are in a considerably developed position in terms of intra-verse travel.

Although inter-verse travel seems a weird subject, many evidences suggest that universes other than the one we live in exists. According to Multiverse theory and Many worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics (MWI) put forward by Dr. Hugh Everett, there exists infinite number of universes and keep increasing for every moment of events. Hence, there must be a way to move through one another.

Several suggestions are presented by eminent scientists all around the world regarding inter-verse travelling. Even late physicist, Stephan Hawking has suggested that black holes can be a passage to another universe. More research on inter-universe travelling will eventually take us to a foreign universe. Therefore, under transportation, lot more focus must be given to inter-universe transportation, similar to the importance given for intra-universe transportation.

Therefore, what I suggest is, without focusing only on transportation within our universe, we must investigate this different aspect of transportation as a further development for transportation.

Thought Communication

Humans are considered as social beings, because they greatly interact with one another. The Primary means of forming and maintaining social relationships is by communication. Therefore, it plays a huge role in building and maintaining bonds with each other. Apart from non-verbal communication methods, such as body language and sign language, for every other way of communication, a language is used. In other words, language facilitates almost all means of communication, regardless of the fact that it is spoken or written.

Even though the process of communication is taken for granted, as we are trained to communicate from the very childhood, it indeed is a complex procedure. When a person wants to communicate a thought, he must first convert his thought in to words, and then speak it out. Then the receiver must listen to the words and convert it back into a thought. We might think it is an effective way of communication, as this procedure happens in a fraction of a second.

However, following are some disadvantages of this way of communication, despite the fact that it has been the usual method of communication for centuries;

Language Barrier

In the present way of communication, a language must be used as a medium to transmit thoughts. For effective communication, people involved in the interaction, must be able to understand a common language. For example, this fact makes harder for a Chinese to communicate easily with an Indian. Of course, they can use hand signals or get the help from a translator, but it won’t be very much effective.

Conversion

As I have mentioned before, when communicating verbally or in writing, first of all, the person must convert his ideas into words. Sometimes this conversion might be troublesome, as some of the thoughts are difficult to turn into words. Specially, when we are speaking in a non-native language, sometimes it makes harder for us to find the right term to describe our idea or thought. Even in the native language, some complex feelings or ideas are hard to put in to words.

Tip of The Tongue Problem

We all have faced this problem at least once in our life. When we are talking about our childhood friend, we know the name of that person, our mind can see him, but the word doesn’t come to the mind, it is just hanging on the tip of our tongue.

Interpretation

True that, there are definitive meanings for each word. But how one person perceives a sentence can be different to another. In conversations, this issue can result in conflicts. A rather hilarious example is when Jack says to John, “We should get married”, it can be interpreted as Jack wants both of them to get married to women or he wants to marry John.

Even though not much thought is given to these problems, at some point we all encountered such difficulties. You might just have shrugged those off saying what can we do for it.

But let me introduce my idea which can completely eradicate these problems and have a far better effective communication. It is called “Thought Communication”.

“Thought Communication”, simply is a process of communicating ideas or feelings just by sending the thoughts from one person to another, in its raw state, without any medium. Through communicating the raw feeling or the raw thought to another, will eliminate the problem that I have mentioned above. With the absence of a language, language barriers will not make communication hard. And the information, that is being lost in the process of conversion of feelings to words, will be preserved in this process. Hence it can be concluded that the thought communication is far superior to conventional verbal communication.

However, it must be noted that, still there is no proper technology developed for the successful communication of thoughts. But given, if enough effort is applied, it won’t be an impossible task. I hope someone reading this article will use my idea to come up with a right technology to enable “Thought Communication” or spread my idea to the people who are capable of doing so.
